RIP have three version, two version use for internet protocol version 4 and RIPng use for internet protocol ipv6. Internal AD value means one router can communicate with other router with the help of internal also can check with # Show IP Route Command, if the value is external means will be responsible to communicate from one autonomous system to the other autonomous system. RIP – Routing information Protocol is open standard so can support any company router, means suppose we have two routers one belong to the Cisco and other belong to Motorola router then can run Routing information protocol, RIP has a capacity to run the command(Router RIP) up to 15 routers. More than 15 routers RIP will not support. If you have more then 15 routers then can use EIGRP(Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol), EIGRP is Cisco Proprietary so can support only Cisco router but can not support other company router. EIGRP has successor and feasible successor path means primary and secondary route from source to destination. If primary route will be fail then secondary route will be up also if secondary route will not work then primary route will work. Static Routing and Default Routing use for small network with IPv4 and IPv6 networking. Means if you have 2 routers, if you have three routers or four routers then can plan for the Static or default routing. OSPF is the largest protocol of the internet so maximum hope count is unlimited. Also can support network up to unlimited. OSPF has many division, like OSPF network divided in to the area, means group of router will be present in the area and one area can not communicate with other area. In case of OSPF if one OSPF network want to communicate with other OSPF network so in this case will use ASBR. Autonomous system border router, in a single autonomous system one router need to make as a ASBR, that should be higher capacity of the router so can manage, configure and maintain complete OSPF AS.
